Stamford once again travelled away with only 7 players, Wisbech with a full time had the advantage but Stamford were not going to be a walk over and Abbie Brewin opened the scoring on ten minutes with a fine volley from outside the box.Ten minutes later a fumbled ball from the keeper allowed WSM to score their first. Straight from the kick off some great passing from Abbie and Rebecca gave Rebecca Corby the opportuhity to hit another volley into the back of the net. Five minutes later a corner from Abbie Brewin was headed into the net by Rebecca Corby. Not to be out done Wisbech started attacking and just on the half time whistle managed to score to make it 3-2 to Stamford.
The second half didnt start too well for Stamford and 10 mins in goalie Lydia Berry tried to clear a ball but it was deflected off a Wisbech player and found the back of the net. With the score equal both teams had a number of opportunities on goal but the score remained the same at the final whistle.
Extra time was to be played but Stamford girls pulled from their reserves and went in fighting all the way. It wasnt till the last minute of second half of extra time that a great pass from Hannah Wayland found its way to Abbie Brewin who shot pass the keeper. The game ended 4 – 3 to Stamford. REFFLEY vs STAMFORD
Stamford travelled to Reffley with only 7 players and the home team expected to have the advantage. But Stamford started strong and within the first ten minutes were rewarded with a goal when a pass from Rebecca Corby found Hannah Wayland. Shortly after Stamford won a corner and a shot on goal was narrowly missed by Rebecca Corby. Thirty minutes in a throw in by Hannah Wayland was then just shot wide of the goal by Abbie Brewin.
Stamford had the advantage in the second half with playing downwards on a sloping pitch but with only 7 players fatigue was taking its toll. Stamford still dominated this game though and 20 minutes in Abbie Brewin took another corner. Rebecca Corby took her chance when the ball rebounded off the keeper to make it two nil. With just 5 minutes till the end Hannah Wayland came off injured so Stamford were down to 6 players. But with some amazing tackling by Tish Croudace and a solid defence Reffley were unable to break through for the game to finish 2 nil to Stamford.
