DEEPING U11s 2-1 STAMFORD AFC U11s

Trying to take points off the teams at the top of the table is hard enough to do on the best of days, but trying to do it starting the game with ten men was never going to be easy, that was the case for us on Sunday, but after the first half you would have thought we had one man extra not one short as we out played and out classed our opponents.

I am finding it hard to remember a clear chance Deeping had in the first half with some great defending from our back four especially Nathaniel Taylor who was outstanding.

We took an early lead with a strike from Samual Crossley after some good midfield movement and passing , our midfield trio of Bradley Kemp, Jake Parrish & George Batemen ran tirelessly in the first half ghosting passed players as if there were not there creating chances that we unable to finish.

We started the second half slowly conceding the equalizer after just two minutes, with a heavy pitch and ten men the boys were starting to tier but still they kept on battling, Deeping being able to bring on fresh legs and going all out attack we managed to hold on untill the last five minutes when the deadlock was broken scoring the winning goal.

With performances like this it is only time before we really start to click, there is one thing for sure Deeping knew there had been in game.

Hungate U11 2-0 Stamford AFC U11
Quarter final
7/02/10

Going into this quarter final fixture against one of the best teams in division one was always going to be a challenge, with this being only our second game since November and our tenth game as a team.

We started the first half slowly giving Hungate a couple of early opportunity’s that they failed to take.

Then after 15 minutes they broke the deadlock with a through ball to there striker of which he managed to get a toe on the ball and guided it passed our keeper.

From then on we started to wake up, creating a couple chances ourselves hitting the crossbar once and narrowly shooting wide.

After some strong words from manager Joe Nicholls at half time we looked like a different team in the second half, putting constant pressure on the Hungate defence.

After some great midfield play pushing the ball down the right wing to George Bateman he skipped past a couple of defenders and blasted a shoot goal bound only to see it hit the post, the ball then broke kindly to there midfielder who launched a counter attack pushing the ball forward to there striker who sealed the win with a second goal.

All the boys should be proud of their performance against a team like Hungate, we can only see them get better from here and launch a challenge for the league title.

Report by Glenn Kemp

After some great results in our first three games we came of age against Peterborough City, with some great individual performances we played some brilliant flowing football.

Unfortunately for Peterborough City they came up against us on a day that Jake Parish was on fire scoring six and creating two more, his first goal came in the first two minutes showing a great turn of pace to leave his marker and driving a low shot that was too hot for the keeper to handle, this was just the start of a great day for Jake, the final score was 11-1 but we have got to give some credit to the Peterborough City lads as they did not give up until the final whistle.

I would also like to mention Oliver Holliwell who has been standing in for our injured keeper Eli, he made some great saves to keep us in the game early on.

We have some very big games coming up of which I believe will decide the league even though it s early days, overall the future is looking very bright for Stamford under 11s.
